Social media is an amazing thing. It’s changed the world in so many good ways. As a writer or author, or basically anyone these days, social media is expected, demanded. I’ve been working very hard on my social media for almost eight years now. I’ve learned so much and had a great time, but the biggest thing I’ve learned is that I don’t want to do it.
I know, I know – every publicist in the world just fainted.
But I’ve made the decision, after about a year of thinking. I’m going off-line (well, mostly – I will maintain this website and my email newsletter – so please sign up below, if you still want my book recommendations or info on my book releases).
I’m going to take all that time and write more, connect more with people face to face, do more yoga, more reading, some gardening, hang out with my family – and NOT post a picture or commentary on any of it.
Because THAT is how I want to live my life — in all its introverted, old fashioned glory. I probably should have been born in the 1940’s.
And if this sounds intriguing, I recommend “Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World” by Cal Newport. He doesn’t do social media either.
